Chi Sigma Omega Chapter ESP Implementation

PLATFORM I - Non-Traditional Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurship is the key to economic survival in this new millennium. As people become more and more a part of the business landscape and as their enterprises grow, they are coming face to face with the challenges of managing new ventures and expanding their businesses. To build and strength this focus we have implemented the following:

Entrepreneurial Smart Fair
This event will assist people to seize the reins of entrepreneurship as they realize that entrepreneurship is the key to economic survival by offering a seminar. This seminar will offer the public access to a panel of entrepreneurs designed to motivate participants towards gaining economic expertise, success in business, and power networking opportunities for the non-traditional entrepreneur.

PLATFORM II - Economics Keys to Success

We must improve living standards within the local community. To achieve these goals we have implemented the following:

Financial Literacy Training
Offer financial literacy seminars throughout the calendar years for families, friends and other local partner organizations as needed. We will seek to improve living standards within our local community.

PLATFORM III - Economics Growth of the Black Family

We have established a family resource program for a family that the organization has adopted. Our adopted family lives in Aurora, IL and has 2 older children and toddler quads. We will provide this family with health related, educational, economic, personal development experiences and opportunities and services to enhance their quality of life to overcome barriers that hinder positive growth. To this end we have implemented the following:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday is not a day off for our members, but a working day to give back to the community. Annually we host a clothing drive to collect clothing, toys and other items for families to assist them in returning to the work force, as well as helping them ease the financial burden of basic clothing needs for their families. This year we are collecting clothing for our adopted family.

Adopted Family
Chi Sigma Omega adopted a family in our community to offer resources in the areas of job readiness, life coaching, financial literacy, education advocacy, and housing counseling.

Teen Summit
The Teen Summit will provide emotional, social, and health issues related to teenagers. This Summit will create a forum where local high school students can discuss issues that they are faced with today. These issues will include developing healthy relationships with females, dating violence, HIV/AIDS: recognized, the consequences, eating disorders, nutrition, fitness and self esteem.

PLATFORM IV - Undergraduate Signature Program:
Economic Educational Advancement Through Technology

This Platform is implemented by undergraduate chapters, therefore not executed by Chi Sigma Omega chapter.

PLATFORM V - Health Resource Management and Economics

To reach a level of satisfaction where one is physically and mentally fit and poised to embrace all of life’s rewards and challenges requires a balance of emotional intelligence, optimal mental health, and spirituality. Therefore, through health (physical as well as mental) resource management and economics we will address many health issues and crises that face the individuals in the United States and globally. To this end we have implemented the following:

Bolingbrook Picnic
Chi Sigma Omega participates in the annual Village of Bolingbrook Picnic by setting up a booth to disseminate physical and mental health information to the public.

Physical and Mental Health Mini-Workshops
Chi Sigma Omega disseminates information on a monthly basis regarding these two important topics to fellow members, T-Rose Teens and at community service events for which the chapter participates in throughout the year.

Million Pound Challenge
Chi Sigma Omega understands the importance of the balance between mental and physical health. To this end, chapter members have challenged themselves to participate in this national effort to be health conscious and spread awareness to their families and friends.

T-Rose Teen Program
Chi Sigma Omega recognized the need for a program to promote education and leadership skills for teenage girls in our community. The objective of T-Rose is to provide teenage girls with an environment where academic excellence, self confidence, financial literacy, and solid self-esteem are paramount. They are exposed to a variety of activities, workshops, and seminars that allow them to better understand themselves as well as the rapidly changing world. As such the T-Roses also "give back" to the community by participating in community services activities. To learn more about the T-Rose program, contact us via email at troses@chisigmaomega.org.
